Ace Sales the Home of ROCAM

Check this page for the latest software releases for the RoboCam software products.

Please Note: We only sell the following applications with the cameras shown below. We do not sell just the software alone at this time. The 2.0 applications are not ready for distribution as of yet. No applications will be sold until the 2.0 series has been completed and all 2.0 series copyrighted. We are phasing out the original applications as the 2.0 versions are far superior. If you are interested in RoboCam please email us and we will let you know as soon as distribution dates are finalized. In the meanwhile you may also volenteer to help us test.

FREE RoboCam Client 1.0 online now here!!!!

robocam-public.jpgThe way the application works is as follows:

  1. Go to the web page that hosts the RoboCam Server and note the instructions given for connection to the system (machine name or IP address). Note: It is not necessary that the host system be running public webcam software. You can use RoboCam Serve for other purposes like Skype as well without the host running a full time video feed.
  2. Install the RoboCam Public Client on your Windows machine, launch it and set the machine name or IP address that you noted in step 1.
  3. Hit connect on the RoboCam Public Client.
  4. Move the RoboCam Public Client to a convenient place on your screen to control the camera and your done. You may need to minimize your browser a bit according to how the particular page has been setup by the host.

Note: Camera control requests are kept in a cue as follows. If nobody has control of the camera currently then you immediately have control. If the camera is being used by another user then your request is put in a cue and you will be the first person allowed to control the camera after the current users alloted time has expired. This is provided that there were no requests before yours. If you do not take control of the camera within the servers defined usage time then the camera is free to be used by the next person that requests it immediately. We are also building in password protection and sequencing functions for new versions of the server. This will allow for public view with private control options and sequencing functionality.

Once you have the client software you may request a demo. Right now I need to get another feed so I can have it up 24 hours so until then any demos have to be scheduled.

Here are some photos of the actual hardware you will receive. The first photo is of a development camera here that is a bit dusty. These photos do not do justice to what you will actually receive. The cameras are in much better cosmetic shape, fully functional and with no scratches on the lens. Most cameras are slightly used (some never used) with some superficial case scuffs from handling but other than that they are perfect functionally. Internally they are like new. These cameras were used for a very short period of time if at all and many of them were just spare stock. We just grab the next available camera regardless, test it, ship it and guarantee it. The cameras were decommissioned due to service contract upgrades. I want to make clear that the cameras were not decomissioned due to defect. Most of the contracts allowed for automatic upgrades as new products were released. That and beside the fact that the company went out of business is the reason that we were able to buy these cameras in such great shape. These are all Sony cameras and retailed for thousands of dollars each. You get the camera, RoboCam software and power supply when you order for a nominal price compared to what just the cameras once sold for. Even today you would be hard pressed to find anything that comes close to the quality and fuctionality of these cameras for even double or triple the price not to mention that the RoboCam applications are second to none.

Here is what the server side application looks like:

robocam-server.jpg

Here is what is required to run the server.

  1. With your computer off attach the serial data cable from the RoboCam to COM1 (required) on your computer, plug in the power supply and turn the camera on.
  2. Start your computer.
  3. Install, configure and run your favorite video capture device that has a composite video and or SVHS video input and attach it to the RoboCam.
  4. Install, configure and run your favorite webcam or security monitoring software. Or just run something like Skype!
  5. Install, configure and run RoboCam Server software.

You are now live and ready to accept requests to remotely move the camera.

Here is the version 1 stand alone application:

robocam-wide.jpg

The version 1 stand alone application is great but I knew it could be better. It is great to be able to sit in front of the computer or a stand alone monitor and control the camera, zoom, presets etc. but that just didn't cut it for automated commercial usage nor did it exploit the true potential of RoboCam. Below is an example of the next generation of what the new software is now capable of. It makes more sense to be able to position the camera to specific areas and also have the camera remeber the sequence of events.

Here is a sneak peek of the new 2.0 stand alone application below with built in sequencer. The application says 1.1 as it is in development. This application will allow you to replace several security cameras with a single RoboCam system. It functions the same as the above application but once you hit "Record Sequence" it starts building a sequencing script every time you click a function. There are also delays that you can select from a drop down menu (not shown) once record is active for variable pauses between movements. When you finish compiling your sequence simply hit stop recording (not shown) then select the pre-recorded sequence that you want to run. Several sequences can be stored to choose from.

At that point when you hit run the mission of the sequencer will be to keep executing the sequence indefinitely until you stop it or reboot your system. This is also useful to run as a pre-defined sequence for a webcam or security system without having to buy the server application. For traditional surveillance systems simply run the sequence and feed the camera output to a time lapse VCR or digital VCR. No need for external sequencers, video splitters or multiple cameras. A single camera RoboCam system can effectively replace multiple traditional CCTV cameras due to the precise movements, focus and speed. When you consider how many traditional CCTV cameras, splitters etc. that you can eliminate with a single RoboCam system the value is clear. As long as what you are trying to view can be seen within 170 degrees of the camera and about 70 degrees total up and down there are no limits to the amount of positions you can set in the sequence.

We also have client/server applications with the same functionality and other stand alone applications with video built right into the application for live monitoring in the works. There are several different flavors of this and each with a specific use.

Below is a sneak peek of what the 2.0 stand alone application will look like. Once you hit "Record Sequence" more functions appear for delay times. So as an example you can go to preset 1 (F!) then wait 2 seconds and pan right, wait 1 second and go to preset 2, wait 5 seconds, scan left with several +1 commands, tilt up etc. and so on you decide. Then simply save the sequence. If you ever shut the system down your sequence is safe. Also presets are stored in NVRAM. We are also programming this functionality into the server and Public Client releases for 2.0.
